LARRY MATHERN

After a long battle with cancer, Larry Mathern (Joseph Larry), age 68, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, March 17, 2007. His wife, Norine, and son, David, were with him.

Larry was born in Iowa, but grew up in Tucson, AZ. He was a lifelong learner, and enjoyed his career as a teacher. Both he and his wife, Norine, spent over 30 years teaching in Germany for the Dept. of Defense schools. Prior to moving to Germany, Larry had taught in both Arizona and on the island of Okinawa. They moved to St. Cloud in August of 2001.

One of Larry’s greatest pleasures in life was people. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and he never met a person he didn’t like. His other hobbies and interests included photography, travel, and concerts. He was especially proud of his two children, David and Shelley. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas Mathern, of Tucson, AZ. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Mildred (Helgerson) Mathern.

Larry enjoyed life and wanted people to remember him as they knew him. Larry very much appreciated the care and concern he received from those at the Coborn Cancer Center.
